This year, GreenGeeks is proud to sponsor WordCamp Canada, taking place in Ottawa at Carleton University on the 15th through the 17th in October. It’s sure to be a great week, full of amazing talks while hanging out with the WordPress community. That’s in addition to the beautiful locale.
Keep in mind that this is Canada’s biggest WordPress event of the year. It’s definitely one you don’t want to miss.
What Can You Expect at WordCamp Canada 2025?
There are some great talks going on this year. The hard part is deciding which ones you want to attend, as some of them are running simultaneously. I’ll try to highlight some of my favorites, but if you want the full experience, you should consider attending.
The talks this year include:
- Mastering Modern WordPress SEO
Search engine optimization has changed a lot over the years. In this talk, Alex Melen delivers a 90-minute workshop to break down what works today in the world of SEO, which includes touching on growing search traffic through generative AI and citations.
- From Blog to Book: How I Turned a Blogging Gig Into a Published Book
As a self-published author myself, I’m highly interested in the concept of going from blogging to books. Michelle Frechette goes over how she turned business blogging to published content, expanding her expertise.
- Search Marketing for WordPress in the Age of AI
This is probably a great extension of the talk I mentioned a second ago. In this session, Alex Melen continues covering search topics while adjusting for AI-driven changes in the SEO landscape. If you’re trying to get noticed, you might want to hang out with Alex throughout the WordCamp.
- Beyond Microblogging: WordPress Leads the Way in Long-form Text on the Social Web
Microblogging is the real-time sharing of short messages, much like you’ll see on Twitter and BlueSky. However, longer bits of text deliver a great deal more information, and Evan Prodromou shows how publishers and readers are integrating a longer reading experience across various sites.
- WordPress and the Open Social Web
In this talk, Dave Winer talks about how WordPress can contribute to the social web through elements like WordLand, a writer-friendly interface, to help manage content while positively impacting the social web.
Again, this is just a small handful of the three-day event in Ottawa. There are a lot of talks helping everyone from the beginning WordPress user to seasoned developers. Regardless of your skill level, this year’s WordCamp Canada is a treasure trove of information.
Things to Do in Ottawa, Canada
WordCamp Canada runs from Wednesday through Friday. While you’re there, you might as well spend a bit of time exploring what the location has to offer. And there are plenty of things I would absolutely love to see if I were going.
Some of the beautiful things you can experience in Ottawa include:
- Parliament Hill – Ottawa has a series of Gothic-style buildings that house the members of Parliament and the Senate. They are among the most elegant structures and seem to leap right out of a medieval story.
- Canadia Aviation and Space Museum – I love museums and exploring the post. The Aviation and Space Museum in Ottawa has a lot of history on display, such as more than 130 aircraft, spanning from 1909 through today.
- Canadian Museum of Nature – One of my favorite building designs is that of the Canadian Museum of Nature, with its large glass cube and castle-themed design. Within its walls are creatures, bugs, minerals, and so much more related to nature.
I could develop an entire blog dedicated to all of the fun things you can find in Canada. So, while you’re in Ottawa, be sure to do some exploring. Not only is the location breathtaking, but there is a lot of history and amazing sites to behold.
Have a Great Week, Canada!
I would like to take a moment to thank the organizers, sponsors, volunteers, and patrons for helping to make WordCamp Canada something special to remember. It’s your continued support and the work you do that makes WordPress one of the best communities on the planet.
Here’s to a fun and successful WordCamp. Have a great week, everyone, and be safe out there.
