This year, GreenGeeks will be heading to WordCamp Europe from June 5th through the 7th in Basel, Switzerland! Our own Anna Gargioni and Ericka Barboza will be manning our booth and ready to answer all of your questions during the event.
All I can say is that I’m quite jealous. Not only is Basel rich with history, but the landscapes and structures would be amazing to experience in person.
This is aside from the fact that it borders France and Germany. You could visit three separate European countries in the span of an hour.
What to Expect at WordCamp Europe in 2025
This year, WordCamp Europe promises to bring some great talks and experiences for those in attendance. Yet, another reason why I am slightly jealous of my teammates for visiting this great location.
So, what kind of talks can you find at WordCamp Europe this year?
- How to Make Your Website More Sustainable
In this talk, Charlotte Bax goes over the importance of green hosting and ways to change design and content creation for eco-friendliness – which is an interest to us, here at GreenGeeks.
- The Block Developer Cookbook: WCEU 2025 Edition
One of the key features of WordPress is block development. You can design a plethora of visual and functional elements in Gutenberg. In this workshop, everyone votes on what to cover and Ryan Welcher breaks down how to make them happen on your website.
- Core Web Vitals Mystery Demystified
Core Web Vitals affects the performance of your site for visitors as well as influences your position in Google. Sabrina Zeidan will help you understand how CWV affects your site and how to make improvements that appease the Google algorithm.
- Micro-Communities + WordPress: The Key to Social Impact
Micro-communities are growing more common, and building them to be impactful can be tough in some cases. In this talk, África Rodríguez will help you understand how to build micro-communities effectively and succeed in your purpose.
- Client Side Web AI Agents for Building Smarter User Experiences in the Future
With the progression of AI, Jason Mayes goes over how to implement front end jobs that run entirely on the client side of things allowing the site to complete various tasks faster than your competition.
These are just a handful of great talks and workshops that are going on at WordCamp Europe in 2025. Live website reviews, WordPress speed building, and more are also available.
Personally, I think a website review from industry leaders could be quite insightful for designing a better layout. So, that one would easily be on my list of “Must-Attend” talks.
Exploring Basel, Switzerland
While you’re attending WordCamp, make sure you explore some of the attractions of Basel. Aside from hundreds of years worth of recorded history, it’s also home to a wide variety of interesting areas for the adventurer.
So, what are some of the interests that pique my curiosity?
- Walking tours of the Old Town: Nestled on the historic Rhine River, Basel has walking tours that aren’t overly expensive and take you through some of the most amazing parts of the city. Personally, I would love some pics for myself of the buildings that line the river.
- Visiting Basler Münster: One of the most famous sites in Basel is that of the Basler Münster, the former episcopal church. Construction of the Gothic and Roman-style building began in 1019 and has seen its fair share of history unfold.
- Basel Exhibition Centre: Although it’s relatively new compared to the other historical locations, this exhibition center has some amazing craftsmanship. Its circular pattern looking upward is almost hypnotic from the ground level.
These are just some of the sites you can visit in Basel, Switzerland. There are simply too many to point out in a single blog post. Needless to say, you’d get some amazing photographs of some incredible historical and modern locales.
Have a Safe and Fun Weekend in Switzerland!
I wish everyone a very safe and fun weekend during WordCamp Europe 2025! It’s sure to be an amazing experience for all who visit due to the location and the surrounding landscape. Plus, there are some great talks to attend.
Don’t forget to visit Anna and Ericka at our booth. They’re looking forward to meeting you and hearing your stories.
I’d like to thank the sponsors, organizers, volunteers, and patrons who make WordCamps like this possible. You all do amazing work and it’s a privilege to be part of such an amazing community.
