Accessibility

We want this site to be usable by everyone, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard alone, magnification, or a browser configured for larger text and different colours.

What we have done

The site is built as plain, semantic HTML. That is the substance of the work, and everything below follows from it.

• Every page works without JavaScript. Nothing here needs a script to be read or navigated.
• Everything is reachable by keyboard, in an order that follows the page, with a visible focus outline.
• Text and background contrast is checked against WCAG 2.1 AA. Body text and headings exceed 4.5:1; large text and interface elements exceed 3:1.
• Text resizes to 200% without loss of content or function, because the layout is set in relative units.
• Every image carries alternative text, and images that are decoration carry none, so a screen reader does not announce them.
• Tables are real tables with header cells, so a screen reader can say which column a figure belongs to.
• Each edition declares its own language and direction, so Hebrew is read as Hebrew and right-to-left.
• Colour is never the only carrier of meaning. Where a price rises, it says so in words as well as in colour.

Accessibility controls

We provide the UserWay accessibility widget as an additional convenience for visitors who want to adjust contrast, text size, spacing, highlighting and other presentation options.

The widget complements our work on semantic structure, keyboard access, labels, headings, tables and readable content. It does not replace testing or correction of the underlying code, and we continue to improve the site itself.

Where we are not there yet

This statement describes what we have built and tested ourselves. It is not a formal conformance audit, and this site has not yet been examined by a licensed accessibility surveyor. We intend to have that done.

That is a fault we want to know about, and it is the fastest way this page gets shorter.
