Poptin
A popup and lead-capture tool built by a small Israeli team, priced well below the American incumbents and with a free tier that is genuinely usable rather than a trial in disguise.
Our assessment
What is good
- +A free tier that is a real plan, not a trial — a thousand visitors a month, indefinitely
- +Roughly a third of the price of the equivalent American tools
- +One script tag, drag-and-drop editor, nothing to learn
- +Support from a small team that answers in hours
What to know first
- −No revenue attribution — it counts conversions, not money
- −A shorter integration list than the incumbents
- −A small company, so the roadmap moves at a small company’s pace

A small site or shop that needs email capture without a subscription that costs more than the hosting. The free tier is a real answer for a site under a thousand visitors a month.Do not buy it for

Poptin does one job: it puts a form in front of a visitor at the moment they are most likely to fill it in, and it does that without asking you to learn anything. The editor is drag-and-drop, the triggers are exit intent, time on page, scroll depth and click, and the whole thing installs with one script tag.
The pricing is where it separates from the field. Basic is $25 a month, or $20 on the annual term, for ten thousand visitors and one domain. The equivalent tier at the well-known American tools sits closer to $50 to $100. Over three years the annual term comes to $260 including the standard renewal, which is roughly what a single year costs elsewhere.
The free tier deserves its own sentence, because most tools in this category use "free" to mean a two-week trial with a credit card. Poptin's free plan carries a thousand visitors a month, one domain and unlimited popups, indefinitely. For a small site that is not a demonstration of the product — it is the product, and a great many sites never need to leave it.
What you give up against the incumbents is depth of integration and reporting. The analytics tell you impressions and conversions and stop about there; there is no meaningful attribution and no revenue reporting. If your question is "which popup earned the most money", this is not the tool that answers it. If your question is "are people signing up", it answers that perfectly well.
The team is small and Israeli, which cuts both ways. Support is fast, human and reachable, and feature requests get real answers. It also means a smaller ecosystem, fewer third-party templates, and a roadmap that moves at the pace of a small company rather than a funded one.
For a site that needs email capture and does not need a marketing department to operate it, this is a well-judged trade.
